The Greek GEO Office (GGO) on 1-2 July 2021 participated in the event organized by the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) and ECMWF presenting the GEO Community Activity “Urban Heritage Climate Observatory” (UHCO) and discussing the Cultural and Natural Heritage community needs and requirements related to C3S products and services.
Dr. Evangelos Gerasopoulos, Director of the GGO and co-lead of UHCO presented the Implementation Plan of the new Community Activity, highlighting the importance of multi-disciplinary collaboration to collect user needs and requirements and evaluate the gaps with the existing products and services available for Cultural and Natural Heritage challenges from C3S.
In the workshop many interesting issues were raised, such as:
• The comprehension of the climate change-related challenges of the Cultural and Natural Heritage community
• The identification of specific needs for climate data, tools and services in order to meet these challenges
• The presentation of the C3S service, demonstrating its contribution to the climate service value chain.
