The Greek GEO Office participated in the GEO-XIII Plenary and Exhibition 2016
As Barbara J. Ryan, GEO Secretariat Director, stated “Over the last decade, the GEO Community has increased its engagement in GEO, and strengthened the development of the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS) through the provision of space-based, atmospheric, oceanic and terrestrial observations of the Earth. GEO supports informed decision-making through coordinated, comprehensive and sustained Earth observations, information and services. Moreover, GEO Initiatives support global, regional and national development programmes, as well as disaster risk reduction, protection of biodiversity and efforts to mitigate climate change. The GEO-XIII Plenary in St. Petersburg will highlight global collaboration in each of these areas, and showcase GEO’s important role in supporting communities in their efforts to help measure and monitor the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Global Agenda.”
